Healey should eternally beg forgiveness for his fucking playing around. One of the main reasons for giving that era a wide berth. (That and Mydland's rinky dink keyboards and Bee Gee with a head cold vocals.)

Agreed (on Healy that is.) I found it slightly quaint when we embarked on the twenty year anniversary tour summer 85, but he didn’t seem to leave well enough alone and went way overboard.

He did go overboard , but I like most of his shenanigans in '85 in particular . I wished he turned Bobby up in the mix more .

Just throwing it out here, but I think Bobby went plenty overboard with his own shenanigans; he needed little help or encouragement from soundboard wizardry!

Maybe it's a generational thing. I can't recall exactly but I'm fairly sure you're younger than I am. My musically formative years were the 60s and 70s. I can appreciate how it might be fun to make a guitar sound like a saxophone or whatever but I really prefer it to sound like a guitar. I'm not a holdout for totally unadorned purity of sound - you can fuzz it, echo it, delay it and phlange it all you like - just so long as it's still obviously guitar I'll be happy.

So why not just hire a clavinette player? Does the musicians' union know about this underhand practice?
